In our brewing metrics, the Stilosa scored average to below-average for its quality of brewing and its control. This was due to the tiny filter baskets, and the lack of temperature control. Both of these issues restrict your ability to adjust the extraction. However, we did like the fact that it takes only a few minutes for the machine to warm up and it has a nice amount of adjustability on the spout height.
The unit also has an easy-to-fill reservoir that can hold up to 34 ounces. It comes with a built in indicator for the level to let you know when to refill. It's removable, which is helpful in the event that you want to clean the tank, or in the event that you don't have a sink nearby. It also has an adjustable drip pan that allows you to use taller cups under the spout.
Stilosa was also a disappointment when it came to our steaming metrics. This was largely because of its lack of control over steam temperature and the absence of a pre-infusion option which are both typical features on more expensive machines. Despite its shortcomings we liked that it is easy to maintain and comes with a 1-year warranty. The De'Longhi Stilosa is a great addition to your home coffee bar. It's more user-friendly than other models we've seen and can save money on cafe drinks.

The Diletta Mio makes a great option for home baristas that are adamant about quality, design and user-friendliness. Beginners will also benefit from this machine as it allows them to learn about espresso and steaming without having to think about programming or complexities.
The brew heater that is controlled by PID is one of its most impressive features. It provides quick warm-up time and stable temperature water. This is essential, especially for espresso, as even minor variations in temperature of the water can impact the taste and quality.
The Diletta's separate steaming thermoblock is another thing that stands out. It lets you steam milk and make espresso at the same time. This is a huge time-saver and assists in ensuring that your milk has the right texture for your drinks. This helps conserve energy as it only uses power when needed.

As with most super-automatics that are available, this one requires some attention, but is fairly easy to keep clean. It will descale automatically and clean itself after every use. You can program it to perform a more thorough cleaning once or twice a year. It will also remind you to change the filter after 80 drinks.
